Sandra is a 16-year-old girl from a crisis-affected region of Cameroon. She lost her father, who was killed during the conflict, and her mother fled to a neighboring area. Last year, Sandra managed to begin secondary school, but she had to drop out when her mother could no longer afford the fees after spending all her savings on a medical operation.
Now, instead of studying, Sandra has become a caregiver, looking after her younger cousins and neighborhood children. With no financial support, she faces the heartbreaking reality of missing out on education again this year. Her situation also leaves her highly vulnerable to predators and at risk of teen pregnancy, making her future even more uncertain.
